The last Nissan Pulsar, intended for Europe, rolled off the assembly line in 1995, and now the Japanese have decided to revive the model with a new hatchback designed to compete with the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. The presentation of the novelty took place on May 20 in Paris, and the Pulsar should go on sale in the fall of 2014.

The exterior of the new Nissan Pulsar is maximally unified with the new generations of X-Trail and Qashqai crossovers, which is especially noticeable in the design of the "muzzle".

The hatchback will receive a modern body with an abundance of high-strength steels and zones of programmable deformation at the front, the length of which will be 4385 mm. The Japanese are still silent about the width and height of the novelty, but it is already known that the length of the wheelbase of the new Nissan Pulsar will be 2700 mm.

Much in common with the X-Trail and Qashqai can be found in the interior of the novelty.

In particular, the Nissan Pulsar will receive an almost identical multifunction steering wheel and instrument panel, the same multimedia system display and a number of common trim elements.

Meanwhile, the Nissan office promises that the new product will receive the most spacious rear row in its class, which will allow it to compete more successfully with the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf.

Initially, the Nissan Pulsar will be offered to customers with two powerplant options. The base unit will be a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol unit, which will be able to develop up to 115 hp. maximum power. In addition, the Europeans will be offered a diesel power plant. A 4-cylinder turbodiesel with a working volume of 1.5 liters, output of 110 hp was chosen for its role. and a torque of 260 Nm.
At the beginning of next (2015), the range of engines will be replenished with the flagship 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, variable valve timing and turbocharging. The top-end gasoline unit will be able to develop up to 190 hp. power.
As a gearbox, all motors will receive a 6-speed "mechanics", but if desired, it can be replaced with an optional "variator" with the function of simulating the operation of the automatic transmission.

The new Nissan Pulsar was designed at the Nissan Technical Center in Bedfordshire, UK. The hatchback is based on the CMF (Common Modular Family) modular platform, but, unlike the X-Trail and Qashqai crossovers, the Pulsar will not receive an all-wheel drive system.
The Pulsar base will be equipped with an independent front suspension on MacPherson struts, as well as a rear semi-independent torsion beam. In addition, the hatchback will receive ventilated disc brakes on the front wheels and electric power steering.

Among the equipment available for the Nissan Pulsar, there is a wide range of modern safety systems: blind spot and lane control, Around View Monitor, adaptive cruise control, and a warning system for a possible frontal collision. The equipment list also includes the NissanConnect multimedia system with smartphone integration, but all this is available only in the older trim levels.

The price of the Nissan Pulsar hatchback in Europe starts at ~ € 16,000. The Nissan Pulsar hatchback for European markets is assembled in Barcelona (Spain).
There is information that the assembly of the "Russian version" of Nissan Pulsar will be carried out by AvtoVAZ (more precisely IzhAvto) and it will be sold in Russia under the name Tiida (but it will probably be "not quite the Tiida" that has been sold in Japan since 2012).
