The first generation Ford Focus ST with the index "170" (codenamed "Piranha") appeared in the line of the American automaker in 2002, after which it went on sale in many world markets.

The "warmed up" model differed from the base version by an upgrade of the exterior and interior, a powerful engine and sporty settings of the main units.

On the conveyor belt, the car lasted until 2004, after which it gave way to the assignee of the second generation.

The “first” Ford Focus ST170 is a representative of the European “C” class, which was available in three- or five-door hatchback and five-door station wagon solutions.

Depending on the modification, the length of the car is 4170-4454 mm, the height is 1480-1498 mm, but the width is the same in all cases - 1699 mm.
The wheelbase of the "heated Focus" fits into 2615 mm, and its ground clearance in the "stowed" state is 150 mm.

Specifications. The first generation Ford Focus ST was equipped with an atmospheric gasoline "four" with a volume of 2.0 liters, generating 172 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm.
The engine was completed with a 6-speed manual transmission and front axle drive.

Depending on the modification, it takes 7.4-8.5 seconds for the car to start spurt up to 100 km / h, its "maximum" is 216-220 km / h, and the average fuel consumption is 9.1-9.4 liters for each "hundred" in the combined mode.

The "warmed" model is based on a Ford C170 "bogie" with an independent front and rear undercarriage scheme - McPherson struts and multi-link architecture with steering effect, respectively.
The rack and pinion steering system is equipped with hydraulic power steering.
The Focus ST170 has 300mm ventilated discs on its front wheels and 280mm discs on the rear.

The car is distinguished by sporty motives in the exterior and interior, a sufficiently powerful engine, acceptable dynamic performance, good equipment, reliable design and effective brakes.
Its disadvantages are high fuel consumption and stiff suspension.

Prices. In the secondary market of Russia at the end of 2015, Ford Focus ST170 can be found at prices ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 rubles.
