At the beginning of November 2019, the German "Association for Technical Supervision" (VdTUV) published the next, twenty-third in a row, rating of the reliability of supported cars officially presented on the German market - "TUV Report 2020".

This rating, as before, may be of interest not only to European, but also to Russian motorists, since a considerable part of the same cars (with minimal changes or even without them) are sold in Russia.

As before, the final report was preceded by a large-scale check of used cars - in total, about ten million of the most common "iron horses" passed through the specialists of the German association for technical supervision TUV, in which more than a hundred parameters were examined. But it's worth noting that only the most important of them were taken into account in the final ranking, such as steering, suspension and brakes, exhaust system, engine and transmission.

The TUV 2020 rating is a list of vehicles and the percentage of detected breakdowns of the total number of inspected vehicles tested from July 2018 to June 2019. Moreover, during this period, significant defects took place in every fifth car (21.5%). As in previous years, for convenience, the German experts displayed several “age categories” in their report, in each of which they identified both the most reliable and the most unreliable “iron horses”.

The absolute winner of the TUV Report 2020 used car reliability rating is a crossover Mercedes-Benz GLC - it was he who demonstrated the least number of breakdowns among cars aged “from 2 to 3 years", As its owners only in 2.17% of cases required the help of car service workers to eliminate a particular malfunction (moreover, with a fairly solid average mileage - 56 thousand km). Well, the second and third positions were divided among themselves Mercedes-Benz SLC / SLK and Porsche 911which lost only 0.03% to the “gold medalist”, but with different mileage - 30 thousand and 25 thousand km, respectively. The worst performances were Dacia Logan (13.6%), Dacia Duster (11.7%) and Citroen Berlingo (11.2%).

Among the cars of the age group "from 4 to 5 years"The leading position was taken by the sports car Porsche 911 with the indicator of 3.6% - such a percentage of the" German "was recorded with an average mileage of 40 thousand km. Behind it was the Opel Mokka (5.0% with a mileage of 60 thousand km), and three models with the same figures of 5.1% closed the podium at once - Audi TT, Mercedes-Benz B-class and Mercedes-Benz SLK (but with different mileage - 56 thousand, 60 thousand and 47 thousand km, respectively). In the rearguard, this time, the Chevrolet Spark (24.2%), Volkswagen Sharan (20.2%) and Seat Alhambra (19.9%) were trailing, but the experts recorded this percentage with a mileage of 50 thousand km, the second - 97 thousand km, the third - 91 thousand km.

In the categoryfrom 6 to 7 years old»The palm again remained with the Porsche 911, because only in 6.1% of cases its owners were forced to visit service stations to remove the floor, and they did it with an average mileage of 52 thousand km. Only 0.5% yielded to the leader sports car Audi TT, behind which is Mercedes-Benz SLK (6.8%). Well, among the worst, Chevrolet Spark, Dacia Logan and Renault Kangoo are here with the results of 31.9%, 31% and 29.7%, respectively.

Age group "from 8 to 9 years old"Again led the two-door Porsche 911 - only in 8.3% of cases such cars brought serious problems to their owners, and with an average mileage of 65 thousand km. The Audi TT performed slightly worse with 11.7%, while the third place was occupied by the BMW X1 crossover with 13.1%. The least successful was Chevrolet Matiz (38.8%), which was only slightly outnumbered by Dacia Logan and Renault Kangoo (38.5% and 34.9%, respectively).

At the age of "from 10 to 11 years old"The same" gold medalist ", namely the Porsche 911, turned out to be the most problem-free, since only in 11.1% of cases he" forced "its owners to visit a service station to fix faults (with an average mileage of 75 thousand km). At the same time, the closest pursuer - Audi TT - was immediately ahead of the German sports car by 4.5%, and from the "bronze medalist" in the person of Volkswagen Golf Plus it was even ahead of 6.5%. Dacia Logan and Chevrolet Matiz showed themselves worse than others - 43.1% each, but with different average mileage - 142 thousand and 87 thousand km, respectively. In addition, Volkswagen Sharan (39.6%) and Dacia Sandero (39.5%) were among the outsiders.
