At the Frankfurt Auto Show, which will open its doors in September 2015, a large number of world premieres will take place, and one of the most interesting of them is the sixth generation BMW 7-series (2016 model year) with an internal G11 / G12 index. But, as has already happened in the automotive world, the Germans, without waiting for this date, declassified their flagship model on the Internet in June this year. The Bavarian full-size sedan has grown quite a bit in size, and outwardly has not changed dramatically, but it has significantly increased in efficiency, safety and comfort.

The appearance of the 6th generation BMW 7-series is made in accordance with the current style of the German brand cars, and at first glance it does not differ much from its predecessor. The design of the body is dominated by calm and flowing lines, creating a powerful and confident look.

Large "nostrils" of the radiator grille, aggressive look of LED optics and a relief bumper with a wide "mouth" of the air intake - the front view of the "Bavarian" is perceived as a real sports sedan. And in profile, the "sixth seven" is good - taut proportions, devoid of even a hint of heaviness, muscular wheel arches, accommodating "rollers" measuring from 17 to 21 inches, and the elegant shape of the roof. At the stern, there is a chrome strip, deeply "piercing" the blocks of LED lights, and a serious bumper with two chrome "trapeziums" decorating the exhaust pipes.

The length of the BMW 7 Series of the sixth generation in the standard version (G11) is 5098 mm, height - 1478 mm, width - 1902 mm. There is also a long wheelbase version (G12), which, with the same width, is 140 mm longer and 7 mm higher. In the first case, the wheelbase is 3070 mm, in the second - 3210 mm. The ground clearance of the flagship three-volume box does not exceed 135 mm.

The interior of the Bavarian executive sedan is subordinated to the "family" style of the brand - an attractive, noble design, verified ergonomics and the highest level of performance. The "bagel" of the multifunction steering wheel hides a fully electronic instrument cluster with a discreet image.

The presentable center console is "headed" by a large display of the iDrive multimedia complex with a diagonal of 10.25 inches, which is responsible for a large number of functions. Below it is a multi-zone air conditioning sensor unit with beautiful graphics and a pair of rotating knobs that regulate the temperature. The atmosphere of luxury and comfort in the cabin of the "sixth" BMW 7-Series is created through the use of high-quality finishing materials, including expensive leather, natural wood and aluminum.

All seats of the "seven" are heated and ventilated, and the rear ones are also supplemented with a massage function. Comfortable seats with a well-thought-out profile and wide ranges of electrical adjustments are installed in front, and passengers of the second row can even bring the back to an almost horizontal position, throwing their legs on the stand. At the disposal of the rear sofa riders is a multimedia system with a pair of large screens, a folding table, their own climate settings and a removable tablet with a 7-inch display.

The luggage compartment of the Bavarian flagship is designed to carry no more than 515 liters of luggage. Due to the fact that the vehicle is fitted with Runflat tires, there is no underground spare tire.

Specifications. On the Russian market, the "sixth reincarnation" of the BMW 7 Series is offered in three modifications - 730d xDrive,740d xDrive and 750i xDrive (their stretched versions are called 730Ld xDrive,740Ld xDrive and 750Li xDrive). Each of them relies on an 8-band Steptronic automatic transmission and proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive technology (the front wheels are connected via a multi-plate clutch).

  • Under the hood of the "initial" diesel modification of the BMW 730d xDrive (730Ld xDrive), a 3.0-liter inline-six with a turbocharging system is installed, producing 265 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 620 Nm of maximum torque, realized in the range from 2000 to 2500 rpm minute. The executive sedan covers the sprint up to 100 km / h in 5.8 seconds (the long wheelbase version is 0.1 seconds slower), and continues to accelerate until it reaches the electronic limiter set at 250 km / h. In the combined driving mode, the "seven" consumes on average 4.8 liters of diesel fuel for every "hundred" run.
  • Another diesel option is the 740d xDrive (740Ld xDrive): with the same 3.0 displacement, it already produces 320 hp. (4400 rpm) and 680 Nm (in the range of 1750 - 2250 rpm). Such a "seven" reaches the mark of 100 km / h in 5.2-5.3 seconds, accelerating as much as possible, all the same, up to 250 km / h. Fuel consumption is slightly higher than that of the "initial" diesel - 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers in mixed mode.
  • The gasoline version of the 730i xDrive, like its extended version, is equipped with an aluminum 4.4-liter V-8 with two turbochargers and direct fuel injection. Its ultimate output is 450 "horses" of power at 5500-6000 rpm and 650 Nm of torque, which is available in a wide range from 1800 to 4500 rpm. Up to the first hundred, the "German projectile" shoots in just 4.4 seconds (the stretched car is 0.1 seconds quieter), gaining maximum 250 km / h. Fuel "appetite" for the sedan is very moderate - 8.1-8.3 liters of gasoline in the combined cycle.

"Sixth 7-Series" is built on the latest modular architecture CLAR with a longitudinal placement of the power unit. The body structure is called Carbon Core and is a complex "bouquet" of high-strength steels, aluminum and carbon fiber (although it is used in small quantities). Thanks to this, the curb weight of the flagship sedan varies from 1,825 to 1,915 kilograms. "Seven" is equipped with a fully independent running gear with double wishbones at the front and a five-link system at the rear (all units are made of aluminum). By default, it relies on air suspension "in a circle" with electronically controlled shock absorbers.

The power steering on all BMW 7s of the sixth generation is electric, and the steering mechanism is expressed by a simple rack with a variable tooth pitch. Integral Active Steering is optionally available, which steers the rear axle wheels up to three degrees. All wheels of the car are equipped with powerful ventilated disc brakes, complemented by a large number of high-tech assistants.

Options and prices. The production of the 6th generation "sevens" from July 1, 2015 has been established at a plant in the German city of Dingolfing, and its European and Russian sales will simultaneously start on October 24.
In our country, BMW 7 2016 model year is available at a price of 5 390 000 rubles for the diesel version and from 6 490 000 rubles for a car with a gasoline installation. The extended version in the first case will cost more by 460,000 rubles, in the second - by 500,000 rubles.
The list of basic equipment of the flagship sedan includes: dual-zone "climate", air suspension, LED front optics, adaptive cruise, 18-inch wheels, iDrive multimedia center with a 10.25-inch screen, navigation system, premium "music", electric drive armchairs, as well as a lot of high-tech systems responsible for safety and comfort.
In the "top" trim levels, the "7-Series" can be equipped with Laserlight laser headlights, a four-zone climatic complex, as well as to order the decoration of the decoration with Nappa leather ... and much more.
