The ZAZ-Daewoo "Sens" car, produced in Ukraine by the "Ukravto" company at the "ZAZ" facilities, is a copy (redesigned under the guidance of Daewoo specialists) of the popular Chevrolet Lanos sedan in Russia. But "Sens" is presented in two body types - not only a sedan, but also a van.
The "new" sedan "ZAZ-Daewoo" differs from "Lanos" not only by the 1.3-liter engine with a capacity of 70 hp. Melitopol plant, and horizontal rear lights. The transition from the rear bumper to the sidewalls of the car is now also looking in a new way. And also, in the list of changes: high ground clearance, spacious trunk and economical fuel consumption ...
And individual elements of the ZAZ-Daewoo Sens body are protected by zinc or zinc-nickel coating.
But the main difference between this car, as we have already said, is the engine and transmission. The rest of the components: suspension, interior, body - are almost the same as on Lanos. The engine of "Sens" is equipped with an injection system and an electronic ignition system, and its power is 70 hp, a torque of 107.8 Nm at 3250 rpm. Fuel consumption (95th gasoline) on the highway is about 6 liters per 100 kilometers.
Engine - this is the main drawback and, at the same time, the advantage of the ZAZ-Daewoo Sens car.
On the one hand, mainly due to this engine, "Sens" is much cheaper than "Lanos" (almost 2 thousand "American rubles") and has lower fuel consumption. I am also glad that the Korean specialists from Daewoo, when designing the engine, supplied it with imported components to the maximum - piston rings, clutch disc ...
On the other hand, the same 16 hp engine. weaker and has a smaller resource. And the transmission, which was originally designed for Tavria, is rather weak for a car with such a mass.
The injection system was developed by the plant's specialists together with the Russian developer and supplier of fuel systems MIKA-MOTOR LLC (Dimitrovgrad). Fuel pump and filter from Lanos model. In addition, ZAZ Sens is equipped with a diagnostic block - i.e. the ignition system and fuel injection can be diagnosed with the ASKAN tester.
Another plus (to the practicality) of "Sens" is a complete set, from the factory, with gas equipment of the Italian company "Tartarini". Its installation gives a slight decrease in power (about 5%) and acceleration dynamics (which, in general, is "not there" anyway), but the savings on fuel cost, in this version, is about 40% (!!!). This is especially important for such a car as "Sens", because its main buyers are people for whom price is important, comfort is secondary, and sporty driving style is not about them at all.
At the wheel of this car, two main features can be noted - it is a very light clutch pedal (which is also characteristic of Lanos), as well as non-standard gear shifting: fifth - backward, rear - forward. Switching itself is clear, like that of "Lanos" (in fact, this mechanism is borrowed from it).
